R. Bower Obituary

R. Jacqueline Bower
March 7, 1930 - January 31, 2013
Resident of Los Gatos
Ruby Jacqueline Bower (Jacquie), 82, of Los Gatos, California, passed away on January 31, 2013 after a short illness.
Jacquie was born March 7, 1930 in Ontario, CA as the eldest child of Paul and Evelyn Ellingsworth. She was raised in West Terre Haute, Indiana, where she met her future husband, Edward Bower. After graduating from Indiana State University with a Masters in Home Economics, Jacquie and Ed were married in California while Ed was on leave from the Marine Corps. They lived for a short time in Indiana before making California their home. Jacquie was widowed in 1972 and continued raising their daughters on her own.
While raising her family, Jacquie was active in youth organizations. She then discovered her aptitude for bookkeeping. She worked at her home church, West Valley Presbyterian Church, as well as other, smaller, organizations, for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and, reluctantly, fully retired around her 80th birthday.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Houret of La Grange, CA, Jayne Bower and her husband, Rodger Mohme, of Paso Robles, CA and Mindy Prow and her husband, Greg, of San Jose, CA.; her six grandchildren, Sara Scott of Kansas City, MO, Cassie Prow of Livermore, CA, Tom Houret of La Grange, CA, Shana Toarmina of San Jose, CA, Tracy Prow and Chelsey Prow of San Jose, CA; her sister Meribeth Detweiler and her husband, Karl, of Pleasanton, CA. In addition, she was like a grandmother to Meribeth's children Joel, Todd and Jayna Detweiler of Pleasanton, CA.
Jacquie always had a special place in her heart for her dogs. She derived great joy from all the dogs she had as a part of her family, including her most recent companion, Molly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at West Valley Presbyterian Church, Cupertino, California. The Internment Ceremony will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Indiana.

Grandma will be missed greatly. So glad she is with grandpa and our Lord now though. No more pain, sorrow, or sadness.

So sorry to hear of the loss of a former Eichler neighbor. Jacquie always had a smile.
