Richard was born in Antioch, CA and raised in Monterey. He lost a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Richard graduated from Monterey High, attended Monterey Peninsula College and transferred to San Jose State University where he graduated in Business Administration. He had a 30-year career in purchasing/ management in Silicon Valley. Richard treasured his Italian heritage as a member IAHS, Sons of Sicily and ICF. An avid sports fan, he followed Cal, SF Giants and his beloved 49ers. He enjoyed tailgating, dancing, traveling and gatherings of family and friends.

His father, Anthony and several aunts and uncles preceded Richard in death; Survivors: his loving wife, Bette; children, Veronica (Mike Mendenhall) of Sparks, NV; Christopher (Jennifer) of San Jose; grand-children, Anthony of San Jose; Katelyn Mendenhall of Sparks, NV and step grand-daughter Taylor Crivello of San Jose. He is also survived by his mother, Frances, of Monterey; siblings, Phillip (Jane) of Salinas; Rena of Monterey and Tina (Robert) England of Salinas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosary: Thursday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow St., in San Jose. Funeral: Friday, November 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Ave., in San Jose. Burial: Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos following services.

So sorry to hear about Richard passing. I was lucky to visit with Richard and Bette just about a year ago. I remember him as a loving husband and father. Your memory will live on.
