Rick G. Mustain, date of birth March 24, 1955, of Los Osos, CA, passed away March 6, 2021 at the age of 65.
He heroically battled a rare form of cancer for the past 10 years. His positive attitude and strength gained him the name "Super Grumps". He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 45 years, his sons Craig and Clark Nunes, daughter in laws Stephanie and Vera, granddaughters Sierra and Amber Nunes; as well as three sisters, their spouses and several nieces and nephews.
Rick loved the outdoors and hunting and traveling with his motorhome. Rick's greatest love was attending his granddaughters sporting events, spending time with family and Barbecue. He is at peace and will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Thank you to the entire staff of UCSF for the excellent care Rick received.

When you put a few years behind you , it´s amazing how a yr or ten seems to pass in a moment . Yet when just a kid in your teens , a minute or an hour seemed to last or take forever . These teenage hours with Rick were packed with endless comments, dreams and actions. Whiffle ball , game day, getting hauled around so we could ride our dirt bikes , hanging out down the street , cleaning kennels, cruising our mom´s cars , wrecks and friends ........ we spent many many minutes together with endless memories.
Rick was always upbeat and ready to go . He would help if you needed without hesitation and cared! So glad to see him at our last gathering a couple years back. Thank you for all the fun Rick , glad to have you as a friend !! Always Con

I send my heartfelt condolences to Rick's family. I can only imagine your grief. Rick was one of a kind, so very special to me. He was a friend, confidant and like another brother to me. I will never forget his bravery and optimism regardless of whatever life challenges he was up against. Rest in peace in Heaven, Rick-- Love you!
