Robert DeBarr Obituary

Robert E. DeBarr
September 21, 1956 - July 4, 2016
Resident of Saratoga
Robert Edward DeBarr, loving husband to Pam, and the best father to Kelly and Jeffrey, passed away from brain cancer at 59 on July 4, 2016. He was born in San Francisco on September 21, 1956, raised in San Jose, and was a 33 year resident of Saratoga. He attended Queen of Apostles School and graduated from Bellarmine. He received his BA in Finance from San Jose State – "The home of the mighty Spartans," and received his MBA from Golden Gate University while working full time. For 30 years, he worked in various positions in Finance at National Semiconductor, including Corporate Controller and Treasurer. He retired as CFO of Micrel in Oct, 2015.
His passions included traveling, music, and sports. Bob's friends and neighbors meant the world to him. He loved the 49ers and Warriors, but his love for the Giants defined him. He loved coaching Saratoga Little League and NJB, and watching youth, high school and college sports. There was nothing more important to Bob than his wife, children, parents, and siblings.
Bob will be remembered for his integrity, humor, loyalty, and for being a "Top Notch" guy. From Galatians 5:22, "…the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Bob exemplified all of these qualities without even trying; it's just who he was.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Pam; his children, Kelly and Jeffrey (Kelsey); his granddaughter, Coralie; his parents, Fran and Bob; his siblings, Diane and Denise (Jim); sister-in-law, Pam; and 8 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan; brother-in-law, Rick; and nephew, Jamie.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 22 at Queen of Apostles, 4911 Moorpark Ave., San Jose. Burial will follow at Madronia Cemetery, Saratoga. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Archbishop Mitty High School.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. Bob was such a brave, kind man. Truly one of the nicest persons I've ever met. His office was down the hall from mine at Micrel, and it wasn't hard to see how hard-working and dedicated he was to his job. He always had a smile on, and was so easy to talk to whenever I needed help with something. My condolences to Bob's family. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Every sympathy to Bob's family in your grief. Bob was a wise, kind and thoughtful man. For over twenty years, he volunteered as chair of our credit union, first as National's and more recently as PremierOne, and I knew him in that role. He drew together the financial management, professionalism and kindness to all that a credit union requires, in the most wise manner: he was an inspiration to all. His loss is profound, and we will miss him hugely.

Dear Pam and family,
I gained a great deal of respect for Bob during our time working together at Micrel. I knew that I could come to him with an issue and we would work it out together, even if we were not initially sharing the same point of view. I will always remember his friendliness and respect. I am so sorry for your loss.

Bob, was the Chairman of the Board and Board Member of National Semiconductor, National and Premier One Credit unions for 20+ years. As a volunteer, he helped grow these Credit Unions to their current size with nearly $400 Million in assets. He lead these Boards with the same Integrity, Honesty, Vision, and Customer Focus which he exhibited in his daily life. Dear Pam and family,

Bob was a very gracious and caring man. I was honored to be his Administrative Assistant at National Semiconductor for the time I was employed there. Bob always treated me with respect, as he did with others at National. He was highly regarded as a man of dignity, and a man who always greeted you with his wonderful smile and the warmed of his blue eyes that made you feel that you were his friend always.

He will be missed.

God Bless and rest in peace dear friend.
