Robert Quinn Obituary

Robert "Bob" Quinn
Jul. 24, 1954-Apr. 23, 2017
Resident Of Campbell
Bob passed away at Stanford hospital on Sunday, April 23rd surrounded by his wife Pam, son John and daughter Gemma.
With great courage, dignity and determination, Bob battled pancreatic cancer for the past 12 months. During his illness, he lived every day to the fullest and worked up to the end of his life.
Bob was a native of Cork, Ireland and was educated at the University of Cork where received a degree in Engineering.
In 1982 Bob and his family moved to Cupertino where Bob began an extensive and successful engineering career. Bob had a passion for technology and was highly regarded and respected as a visionary and strategist by his professional colleagues and friends. Bob was the founder of several companies during his years in Silicon Valley, most notably 3Leaf Systems. He held executive and leadership roles in various companies, most recently with Micron Corporation.
Bob was a wonderful, kind and caring family man. Last year Bob and Pam celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and, having grown up together, they hoped to grow old together in the decades to come. However, it was not to be. In addition to being a loving husband, Bob was a devoted father, father-in-law and grandfather. All things family brought great joy to Bob and time with his grandsons was particularly special to him over the past few months.
Bob's humor, kindness and love of life were obvious to all who knew him. He had a wonderful curiosity about our world and never stopped learning and exploring new horizons. He enjoyed meeting new people and sharing his continuous optimism and positive outlook on life with everyone. Bob loved all things food and wine. He was an excellent chef and delighted in taking on new culinary challenges. He enjoyed his years as a partner in the Three Arches Winery.
Bob is survived by his heartbroken family, his wife Pam, son John, daughter Gemma, sisters Etta and Nora, daughter-in-law Jacquie, grandsons Aidan and Owen, family and friends in Ireland as well as a large circle of friends and colleagues here in Silicon Valley and beyond.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Bob's life will take place on Saturday, April 29th at 1:30pm at the Sacred Heart Church, 13716 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070. May he Rest in Peace

We were absolutely privileged to know Bob when he first came to Edinburgh, Scotland in the late 1970's. We were all in our early twenties, lived in the same area, had finished university and were embarking on careers. Bob was just a lovely guy, full of glorious Irish charm, great humour and with a wonderful turn of phrase - all of which belied the sharpest of minds and brilliant entrepreneurial/ engineering skills.
It is no wonder that he went on to achieve great success in his professional life but he always wore his intelligence lightly. However, it was Bob's great love for his family, his delight in his and Pam's long and happy marriage and their wonderful children and grandchildren which really defined him.

God Bless you Bob, we think of you, we smile and we remember you always in our prayers

I have know Bob & Pam since'82 and had the pleasure of working with Bob and later working for Bob at 2 of the early companies he founded. Bob was a Cork man, kind, passionate about technology, knew how to bring the best out in people and was a great friend. Bob - may you rest in peace. Pam - my deepest sympathies for your loss.

I had the privilege of working closely with Bob during his tenure at Micron Technology. He impressed me with his combination of business savvy, depth of technical understanding in software and hardware, and his ability to visualize a very large picture a combination of qualities enviable by all who reside at the apex of his chosen fast moving industry. His passing was such a shock, not because he concealed his illness from those colleagues closest to him, but because his courage and good-spirits hid the reality of its advancement. I will never forget his dignity, confidence, courage, competence and humor. I join his family in being heart-broken by this loss. We, the sons of Martha, as we mourn the loss of a great engineer and a great man, will continue his world-advancing work.

O my God! O Thou forgiver of sins, bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions!
Verily, I beseech thee to forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world.
O my Lord! Purify them from trespasses, dispel their sorrows, and change their darkness into light. Cause them to enter the garden of happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water, and grant them to behold Thy splendors on the loftiest mount.
