I just looked up Rosemary so that I could donate to her again. I was so sad. I did not know her very well, but her life inspired me to do more for my fellow human being. Rosemary was truly a shinning light in this world.

Rosemary was always giving her love and her time to people who needed her. She's the most special woman I've ever known because she lived with great positive energy. She will be always remembered because love never dies. A candle burns bright which is the light of Rosemary Stasek love of life and her eternal peace. I'll miss you, Rosey.

I was President of the Whisman School Baord when Rosemary was Mayor of Mountain View. I found her dedicated and commited to serving those who were missed by most mainstream institutions. I was not at all surprised to hear that she had gone to Afghanistan to help women. What did surprise me was to learn that with all of the fighting and violence in that beleaguered country she had chosen to stay--even more surprising was the news of her untimely death.

I had known Rosemary and her husband for the last three years in Kabul. Every time she came over to our office, her smile brightened up the entire room! We will truly miss her. The impact that she had on the women of Afghanistan is immeasurable and unforgettable. My prayers to her family.

A tiny seed is planted in a loving garden of life. It begins as a helpless sproutling needing constant care and attention.
It eventually blossoms into a beautiful flower from the careful and loving nurturing of extraordinary gardeners and overseers.
As the years go by, wherever in the garden of this world the flower is transplanted, it grows stronger and more beautiful.
In the course of its travels and blooming, our flower grows strong and protects other flowers that are vulnerable to the caprice and harsh realities of some garden overseers that do not allow some flowers to develop and flourish.
However, in the springtime prime of her extraordinary beauty, our dear Rose flower is picked from our worldly garden to go a higher one – for reasons we may never understand.
A lesson learned is to take loving care of and fully enjoy the beautiful flowers of our worldly garden, as their beauty is transitory.
And the promise we make today is to continue the work of our flower the best we can … as we were all touched by a Rose.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Stasek family. Although Rosemary and I haven't had contact since our days at Marian Catholic High School, I am saddened that the world lost such a bright, accomplished woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

I only met Rosemary once. It was about ten years ago, while she was on the Mountain View City Council, and we only spoke for a few minutes, but I never forgot her. I fully expected to see her in national office before long, so I was shocked but delighted to learn that she had transferred her energy toward helping the women of Afghanistan. I had always looked forward to hearing Rosemary speak and maybe getting the chance to meet her again, and I'm very sad to know that won't happen. I can only imagine how devastating her loss is to those who were close to her. All of you have my deepest sympathy. I feel privileged to have met Rosemary even once. Knowing that I lived in a world with her in it — although for too short a time — makes it seem like a slightly better place.

I will always remember the few short months of our acquaintance in Kabul, especially going to church on the ground of the Italian embassy. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
