Samuel LoBue Obituary

Samuel Joseph LoBue
Dec. 19, 1952 - May 23, 2015
Resident of Morgan Hill
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather and friend, Sam LoBue. Sam passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children, after an eight year fight with Early Onset Alzheimer's.
Sam was born in San Jose. He attended Campbell schools where he excelled and was known as a "star athlete." It was at Campbell High School where he met the love of his life, Lori Yeager. Sam continued his football career at West Valley College and then transferred to BYU with his wife Lori by his side. His proudest sports moment was playing in the 1974 Fiesta Bowl where he was the leading receiver. After BYU Sam and Lori returned to San Jose where Sam began a 35 year career with Coca-Cola. Sam began as a driver and he retired as the Sales Center Manager of the Monterey Bay Area for Coca-Cola Enterprises. Sam was an incredible leader, always using his competitive spirit and team-building efforts to achieve their goals. He was a special mentor to many young people in business throughout his career and life.
Sam is survived by his devoted wife Lori, children, Allison Vargas (Ryan), Katie McGhie (Zach) and Samuel J. LoBue II (Neusa) and six grandchildren: Ryan Vargas and Anthony Vargas (deceased), Hannah and Sophia McGhie, Emily and Samuel LoBue III. He is also survived by his mother, Bette Maniglia and stepfather, Joseph Maniglia (deceased) , father Philip LoBue (deceased) stepmother Doris LoBue, brothers, Phil LoBue (Suzanne), Karl, Joe, Michael, and Ron Maniglia, In-laws, Al and Betty Yeager, brother in-law, Stephen Yeager (Maureen), sisters in-law, Debra Anello and Judy Yeager. Sam was blessed with such a large family that loved him, there are too many to list. Lastly, he leaves a devoted and sad dog named Chloe who stayed by his side throughout his illness. Sam was very well loved by all for his cheerful spirit, positivity and sense of humor. Of all the achievements in his life the greatest was his family. Sam was a very loving, involved father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed gardening, music concerts, bowling and trips to the beach with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Sam's life on Friday May 29, 2015, 11:00 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1790 E. Dunne Avenue Morgan Hill. Burial to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Rd. Flowers may be sent to Darling-Fischer Los Gatos. Donations may be made in memory of Sam LoBue to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.

Lori,Sorry to say, but Dorothy and I just learned of Sam's passing. We noticed Sam was not on the Christmas card picture. I thought Sam may have been to sick to attend the trip. So, today I decided to search the internet to contact you and discovered on Yahoo that Sam had passed last May. Sorry for the loss. Hope you and your family are doing fine... John & Dorothy Ryan.

Dear Lori & Family,

After working with a guy like Sam, I realized he was the definition of a " Class Act" and created credibility to everything around him.
He always talked about how proud he was being a husband and father, and his humble personality never told the great skills and talents he possessed. Any body who ever met Sam, knew he was a special person.I'm sure he is still smiling thanking God every day for all of his blessings.
He led many by his walk, not his talk.

Dear Lori and Family: Words are not enough to tell you how heartbroken we are on the passing of Sam. He was a true friend to my Dad and Mom for so many years. My Dad loved Sam like a Son...and he could always make my Dad laugh and smile. His friend "Boo"...he will be missed. Cliff and I - along with the Ritchie family send our love and prayers during this sad time. And remember..."perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather holes in heaven; where our loved ones shine down and tell us they are okay"... Much love to you! Debbie

Sam was a fire eater who never was content with anything other than first place for himself and those with whom he worked. I was hired by Sam. Every day I encountered highly placed people in the company who had been hired and mentored by Sam. He brought out the best in people. Throughout the long days as we worked, he frequently spoke with love and pride about his family and team mates. The Alzheimer's that claimed him was a tragedy both for him and for those who loved him. He worked so hard for so long only to have his hard earned golden years stolen.
