Selven Anderson Obituary
February 10, 1947 – July 2, 2022
Resident of Sunnyvale
Selven "Sandy" Carl Anderson Jr. was a father, husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and true friend. Surrounded by his wife of 54 years, Jackie Anderson, and their son Selven Christian Anderson, he left us on July 2, at the age of 75.
Selven will be missed by his son's wife Amanda and Selven's brother Michael and his wife Laura and their three daughters Lynae, Sarah and Leah, and brother-in-law Skeeter Zazzi and Selven's niece Sasha.
Selven is preceded in death by his parents Jean and Selven Anderson and his dear sister Sallye.
Selven retired from San Jose Unified School District after dedicated service of over 35 years. He taught English at Lincoln High School for 20 years, then was Assistant Principal of Activities at Pioneer High School, Summer School Principal at Gunderson High School and Independent Studies at Gunderson. Selven enjoyed coaching girls' and boys' basketball. He served as a San Jose Teachers Association Representative for many years to make working conditions better for teachers.
Selven was very witty and family and friends loved his keen sense of humor. He would often quote Shakespeare and enjoyed the writings of John Steinbeck and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life is schedule for Saturday, July 23, at LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave., Sunnyvale. If you knew him and would like to attend, please email [email protected] for details.

Selven was my English teacher and basketball coach at Lincoln 1972-'75.
After many years I had the pleasure of being reconnected with him on Facebook as a friend and cohort. We were communicating during his struggle. I realized it was serious but I did not know it was dire. I will remember him as a friend, coach, educator and an example of positive attitude, high education and a humorous, social personality. RIP Selven .

Selven was an educator at Lincon, Pioneer, & Gunderson High Schools, but he was an alumnus of San Jose High class of '64. He was a very nice person & though I was Class of '63, I got to know him thru several reunions & events celebrating SJHS. I used to remind him, "Once a Bulldog, ALWAYS a Bulldog!" Condolences to his family.
