Dear Jerry,

I just learned about Mrs. Lucha's passing today. I am sooo sad. She is my favorite "wife" from my old days at SRI International. She came to all our parties, year after year to enjoy our celebrations. I wish I would have known earlier about this.... I love Mrs. Lucha with all my heart. She was my big sister. My warm thoughts are with y'all today Jerry.

As ever,

Tina La Placa

I enjoyed her message and humor at meetings. She always had a warm smile and a hug for everyone.

What an amazing, passionate person she was and what a loss to all of us. No one in my family will ever forget her. Our memories of Sombat will always be intertwined with those of that warm and wonderful time when our kids were little enough for us to be considered acceptable company to walk them to school. We knew we were all safe and cared for under her endlessly loving and protective veil. Thanks Sombat. You truly made a difference!!

She always had such a smile on her face, and just made my mornings. She cared for each and every child who crossed her path. What joy she had!

Her spirit will always be present in our memories. Her cooking, dancing, halloween costumes and bird are but a few....

Those of us who walked to school at Walter Hays will never forget your mom. She seemed to know every child, and welcomed them cheerfully every morning. She also took control of that intersection and we knew our kids were safe when she was there. Her smile was a wonderful way to start each day. A few years ago, I bumped into her at an event. While we, of course, remembered her, I was surprised that she remembered both me and my daughter. Hundreds of families crossed her path every week, and she took the time to know each of us. She was special, and we are all sorry for the loss you are feeling.

You will be missed but never forgotten. My condolences to the whole family.

When I was 20 I went to work at the same company where Sombat worked. She basically ran the place with her spitfire attitude and laughter. When my daughter was born two years later and I was on maternity leave I woke from a nap one day to find Sombat in my living room. She brought a silver rattle for the baby. I still have it 33 years later to pass on to my daughter. She left the company while I was on maternity leave, but we met again when I came to AA. She had six years then, I was so surprised to see her walking across that AA room with a parrot on her shoulder. She remembered me and we began a new recovery friendship. She was loved. She will be missed by so many. My condolences to her family.

My fondest memory is having Peking Duck in Hong Kong and learning about Thai dancing. We had just moved to Japan and were immersed in three new cultures in less than a month. Fond memories.
