Thelma Ikard Roth

Thelma Ikard Roth Entered into rest August 29, 2007 in Scotts Valley, CA after courageously confronting kidney and heart disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Willard (Bill) Roth Jr., and is survived by their 5 children (George Ann (Robert White), Willard III, Tom (Marita), Karl (Kim), and John (Katharine)), 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Thelma was born in Memphis, TN on September 22, 1926 to George and Ethel Ikard. She grew up in Memphis through her graduation from Memphis Technical High School. Soon thereafter she met Bill, they married on September 21, 1946, and lived in numerous places including Vermont and New York before settling in San Jose. Over her years Thelma's varied interests included friends and family, Bible study, bowling, playing bridge, supporting her children's sports teams, pampering her pet dogs, camping and fishing at San Jose Family Camp, cruise ship travel, and being a San Jose Sharks fan. She also enjoyed her occasional slot machine, lottery, and horse racing wagers. Thelma is best remembered as a caring, generous, and humble soul whose life was guided by her Christian beliefs and family values. For most of her life she was a full time wife and mother who would sacrifice selflessly for her family and was eager to share with those less fortunate. Many of her recent years were spent as a caregiver for family members, and she now rightfully transcends into the care of her Lord. A viewing will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 4 at Lima Family-Erickson Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service and reception starting at 11:30 a.m. at Willow Glen Methodist Church. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
