Resident of San Jose
Dr. Doi passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on December 23, 2015, at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Chiyoko Doi, children; Robert (Regan), Michael (Audrey) and Lori Ann (Gene Nishimatsu), and grandchildren; Bryan, Michelle, Eric, Katie, Alexandra and Taylor. His brother, Dr. Hunter Doi, preceded him in death. Dr. Doi graduated from UCSF Dental School in 1950. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. He later settled in San Jose and practiced dentistry in Japantown for over 50 years. He received excellent care from Katalina and Na'a. Private services have been held.

Dr. Doi was my grandmothers dentist, my mother and father's, my dentist and that of my children. Plus my relative's dentist! My earliest memories were as a child going to his office (which hasn't changed a bit) and being excited to receive a little prize afterward. I also loved the waiting room because of all the children's books.
Dr. Doi's original work installed when I was a child of 8 years old is still in my mouth, 50 years later! This kind of craftsmanship is from a long ago era.
Sleep well dear sir and thank you for your years of kindness, service and professionalism. Many blessings to your family on their loss. Peace be with you!
