Virginia Seay Ploeser, Aug 8, 1922-Nov 23, 2015--mother, grandmother, teacher, musician. Survived by children Monica (J.B.) Moore, Stephen (Mary) Ploeser, and grandchildren Betsy Moore, James (Mila Henry) Moore, James Ploeser, Katie (Chris) Pope, and John Ploeser. Preceded in death by daughter Christine (Larry) Reese. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (corner of James and Fulton Streets, Redwood City) on Dec. 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., reception following at 371 Cerrito Ave., Redwood City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Carmel School or the Redwood City Catholic Worker House.

She did so much more for us than just teach.... She read the Hobbit to us in class, got me into the Lord of the Rings books. Did a lot more reading after that.

Mrs. Ploeser led me & my sisters in choir for many years, putting in extra hours for choir practice & showing up every Sunday when she could have been sleeping in. I remember her dynamic style & the clicker she used to keep time! She was hip enough to introduce the African-style Missa Luba, with African drums played by students. I think she also taught us arrangements by ear -- soprano-alto parts that we still remember, especially the carols that some of us will be singing in her memory!

Mrs. Ploeser was my favorite teacher too. She taught 8th grade at Sacred Heart School in the 70's and we loved her. I remember being in the choir with her and going camping with her for the Confirmation preparation. So sorry for your loss.

Mrs Ploeser was my favorite teacher at Sacred Heart grammar school in Saratoga. She was a great lady. I have many fond memories of her. So sorry for your loss.
