William Hoopes "Bill" Fitler was born June 23, 1924 in Pittsburgh PA, and grew up there, in France, and in Pass A Grille FL. He earned the Bronze Arrowhead for his glider drop with the 17th Airborne in WWII. Bill had a degree in civil engineering from Univ of Pittsburg. He lived in Ohio, on the San Francisco peninsula for 20 years, and in Capitola CA for 27 years where he supervised the cement boat off Seacliff State Beach from his dining room overlooking the Monterey Bay. He died peacefully March 29, 2013. Bill was predeceased by his wife and mother of his children Mary Davron Delano. He is survived by WH Fitler Jr of Watsonville CA, Laura Delano Fitler of Capitola CA, Mary Loren (Lori) Nugent of Sarasota FL, and Julia Kay Wirth of Maui HI, and loving grandchildren.
