After the war, he spent 25 years in the Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, and returned to Normandy several times for "D" Day Celebrations.

Mr. Hagen returned to the Bay area, and was the owner of "Chain of Ladies" apparel sto4es in San Bruno, San Mateo, Burlingame, Hillsdale, and South San Francisco from 1946 to 1971.

Losing my grandfather is one of the hardest things I have ever been through. He was a friend, a mentor, and above all a great listener. He would give each person he talked to his undivided attention and would make you feel important and loved. He also had a sense of humor like no other he always sensed when everyone needed a good laugh. Everyone he met was treated as if they were a close friend, remembering names and where they were born. He would often even throw in some history About the town they grew up in or who shared their name. My grandfather made a impact on everyone he shared his life with andcwill ne greatly missed. My memories of him give me streangth and. Courage to conquer any mountains before me. He was as sharp as a whip, could read any book in a day and loved to hit
my right knee to watch my left foot jump. I love you grandpa and I will have you in my heart for the rest of my days. Losing you is harder than words can say but remembering you can turn around the worst of my days.

Love you always embo
