William Utschig Obituary

Resident of Campbell
William (Bill) Grant Utschig left this world for his heavenly home on August 24, 2021 at the age of 78 years.
Born in San Mateo, California, Bill graduated from Westmoor High School in 1961. He studied aeronautical engineering at Northrop Institute of Technology prior to enlisting in the Air Force and serving in Alaska and the Philippines during the Vietnam era. After his honorable discharge from military service, during which he was trained in electronics, Bill spent his 40-year civilian career in R&D as an electronics component engineer at Fairchild, Intersil, Moore Systems, Landis & Gyr, Electrowatt, and Siemens. He served nearly 50 years in various volunteer capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bill enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, fishing, and camping with family.
William is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda; three children: Jennifer Davis (Scott) of Richland, WA; Timothy Utschig (Alexandra) of San Jose, CA; Catherine Utschig of San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren; two step-children: Kirk Treanor (Christy) of San Marcos, CA, and Halle Treanor of Castle Rock, CO; and two step-granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother John Utschig of San Carlos, CA (Mary) and his sister Mary Reed of Layton, UT. William is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel on Allendale Avenue in Saratoga, California. Burial to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose, California. Masks and social distancing required; vaccination highly recommended.
