Brian H. Mattila
Brian H. Mattila, 66, passed away August 9, 2024, at his home. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer July 13 which led to problems with other organs. He currently resided in Dunnellon, Fla., with his wife Bonnie of 32 years. He previously lived in the home he and his wife built on Lake Vermillion where he enjoyed catching walleyes off the dock. He retired from US steel where he was employed for 30 years.
He left behind his wife, Bonnie; stepsons, Trent (Debbie) Phillips, Tevor (Lynn) Phillips; daughters, Mya (Dan) Lambert, Marissa (David) Engrav; sisters: Candy (Dale) Sprague, Kim (John) Schwartz), Cindy (Richard) Marolt, Kelly (Ted) Ellofson, Connie (Tim) Fink; brother, Michael Wattunen; grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by father, Henry Mattila; mother, Lois Wattunen; stepfather, Peter Wattunen; uncle, David Maki; and grandparents.
A private graveside ceremony will take place August 26.
