Dale Kaskisto Obituary

Dale Roy Kaskisto

Dale Roy Kaskisto, 74, of Virginia, MN transitioned from this earth to his heavenly home on Monday, May 22, 2023. His wife and family were with him when he passed at his home. He was diagnosed with Parkinson-ism about four years ago and with Congestive Heart Failure in February of this year. He was in Hospice since March 10, 2023. We will see you in the morning over there!

Dale was born in Crystal Falls, Michigan to Everett and Lorraine Kaskisto on April 18, 1949 and was raised in Amasa, MI. He only lived in Amasa, White Pine, Crystal Falls, and Iron River, MI and Virginia, MN. He became a born again Christian in Oct. 1967 and on November 25, 1967 he married Bonnie Lange in Iron, River MI. They were married for 55 years. He was a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He could fix anything and he often said "I can fix anything but a broken heart".

When Bonnie's sister, Mary Beth, died in a car accident in 1971, he became Dad to her four children. He was 21 and took on the job of raising her children. Dale was always a good provider. He began working in the mining industry in 1971 at White Pine and in 1991 he started traveling the world, as a consultant on Mine Crushers until his retirement in 2015. He worked in India, Egypt, Finland, England, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Chile, Peru, Canada, S.E. Africa and thru-the U.S.

Dale was employed by Inland Steel, FFE Minerals and Frog Switch Corp.

Dale loved the Lord, his family, fishing, deer-hunting, walking the woods looking for partridge; he loved camping and reading by the campfire, reading on the swing on the back patio, walking his dog, Daisie, and his beloved Green Bay Packers. We would have to leave church early to see the game. He also was able to attend several games in person. He always liked Harley Davidson motorcycles and was able to purchase a 1973 FLH bike in 1995, which he owned for several years. He was legendary at the mine and among family and friends for his strength and he was known to say "if it isn't bolted down, I can lift it"!

Dale leaves those who mourn and miss him: his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Vicki Carlson; sons: Dean (Sheri) Burns, Rock Hill, SC, Rick (Jasmin) Burns, Merced, CA, Tony (Fleeta) Burns, Weatherford, TX; sister Maxine (Tony) Clark, Crystal Falls, MI; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Hign) Ravet, Rhinelander, WI and Patricia Morford, Anaheim, CA; nieces and nephews; good friends, Jon Koski, Joe and Roberta Today, Henry and Lyndah Korpela, and other ffriends from church and work.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Everett Kaskisto, mother, Lorraine (William) Hill; sisters, Kathleen (Jerry) Jarvi and Bonnie (Merv) Hughes; grandparents, mother and father-in-law, Ben and Viola Lange; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey and Bruce Lange, and Merv Hughes; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Hansen and Mary Beth Burns, and granddaughter Kiana Mae Burns.

Services for Dale will be held on Saturday, May 27 at Iron Range Baptist Church, 9357 Hwy 37, Iron. Visitation will be at 3 p.m. and the services at 4 p.m. A visitation will also be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 26 at the church. Pastor Joel Kallberg will officiate. Burial of cremains will be in Hematite Cemetery, Amasa, MI. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.
