Daniel Roy Goette
Daniel Roy Goette, 71, of Aurora died Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.
He was born on May 7, 1953, to Burt and Louise (Erickson) Goette in Hibbing. Dan grew up in Hoyt Lakes, MN. He attended Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School, graduating from the Class of 1971. Following school, he worked several jobs. Dan retired after 27 years of service from United Taconite. He was a City of Aurora Councilman, having served on many taskforces and was an Aurora Volunteer Fireman for twenty years.
Dan enjoyed bowling and fishing. He took the greatest pleasure in spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren; especially attending his grandchildren's school and sporting activities.
Dan was a kind, gentle, and hardworking man. He was a man who put many interests and hobbies aside to be there for his family. Whether he and Jeannie were attending sporting events for the grandkids, school achievements, or family gatherings of any kind, he was a man of pride. Dan found joy in being there for his family; offering guidance, support, and unwavering love. His legacy will continue to inspire us and guide us to live through the values he has taught us.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years: Jeannie; two daughters: Sarah (Rusty) Fitzgerald of Duluth and Emily (Tony) House of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Dylan (Saidy Dickenson) Harrison, Abby Harrison, Abby (Luke Sobczak) Fitzgerald, Jack (Brea Archer) Fitzgerald and Molly, Logan and Kadie House; two brothers: David (Bridget) Goette of Hoyt Lakes and Donald Goette of New Zealand; mother-in-law: Phyllis O'Bryan of Virginia; brother-in-law: Tom (Alane) O'Bryan of Cherry as well was numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Gene O'Bryan.
A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora at a later date. Memorials are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers.
