Daniel B. Roberts
Daniel B. Roberts, 81, of Hibbing Minn., died unexpectedly October 23, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minn., with his wife Candace by his side.
Dan was born May 4, 1944, at the hospital in Hibbing Minn., he grew up in Chisholm and attended Chisholm, Minn., schools graduating with the class of 1962. He earned a B.S. degree in Business/Finance from University of Minnesota in 1966. Dan owned several successful businesses in Chisholm including Multisports, and Hnatko-Roberts Insurance Agency as well working at the Bank of Buhl. He moved with his family to Arizona in 1983 where they lived in Scottsdale. In Arizona his work was in the field of banking and sales. In 2019, they returned to Minnesota, making their home in Hibbing.
Dan was active in his Catholic church community especially with St. Vincent de Paul and volunteering at the White Dove Thrift Shop which helps fund Hospice of Valley in the Phoenix metro region. In Minnesota, he continued his volunteer service with the Knights of Columbus at Blessed Sacrament. For fun, he curled in the Chisholm Senior Men's league and played Bocce Ball at the Side Lake Community Center.
Everyone who met Dan liked him immediately. He had a passion for the family lake property in Northern Minnesota where he and Candi eventually spent their summers enjoying morning coffee or a happy hour drink by the lake shore. You could always find Dan tinkering with something that needed fixing, his kids and grandkids knew he was the one to talk to when they had a problem.
He will be remembered for his overwhelming kindness and willingness to help out.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lyell Roberts and Helen (Brown) Roberts of Chisholm Minnesota and his brother Samuel Roberts of Spokane Washington.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years Candace (Kelly) Roberts, his son Mark (Debbie), his daughter Sarah (Scott), and three grandchildren, Patrick, Alexis and Antonio. He is also survived by his brother Edward H Roberts (Gail) of Yuma Arizona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing, Minn. Visitation will take place one hour prior at 10 a.m. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary one half hour before mass.
In memorial and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chisholm Foundation or charities of choice.
Internment at the Chisholm Calvary Cemetery.
