David Conrad Ridgeway
David Conrad Ridgeway, age 69, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at The Emeralds in Grand Rapids, Minn., due to complications from cancer.
He was born September 18, 1953, in Grand Forks, British Columbia, Canada, the son of David and Marina (Margetts) Ridgeway. While growing up he and his family lived in several states, and then Minnesota where he graduated from Biwabik High School in 1972 and went on to attend Mesabi Community College, and later Grand Rapids Community College in the Forestry Technician Program.
David first worked at the Giant's Ridge Ski Resort and then in the mining industry for several years. In 1985 he was in an auto accident that left him disabled. He was an avid reader, liked listening to music, particularly Creedence Clearwater Revival, building model cars and airplanes, playing cribbage, and eating lots of pizza.
David is survived by his siblings: Bryan Ridgeway of Hibbing, Beverly (Derrik) Clay of San Antonio, Texas, and Diane Ridgeway of Hibbing; nephews: Gabriel Ridgeway, Grant Ridgeway, Sam Clay, and Walker Clay and niece: Courtney Clay Nesbitt, and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister-in-law: Renee (Bryan) Ridgeway.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 5, from 11:00 am until noon, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel; Greg Anderson will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society by calling their 24/7 helpline at 1-800-227-2345.
