Gerald David Pospeck
Gerald David Pospeck passed away February 21, 2024, surrounded by his wife and family.
Gerald was born May 17, 1935, in Ironwood, Mich., to Bernard and Catherine Pospeck. He grew up in Bessemer, Mich. Gerald joined the Air Force in 1954, where he became an aircraft maintenance technician. He married Marlene Garland June 18, 1960. Gerald and Marlene lived Hoyt Lakes, Minn., where they raised their three daughters Annette, Terri, and Susan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and blueberry picking. Gerald retired from the Erie Mining Company/LTV mine in Hoyt Lakes after 37 years of service. Gerald and Marlene moved to Duluth, MN in 2016 to live closer to family and enjoy their retirement. Gerald will be remembered most for how deeply he loved Marlene and his family, and his wonderful spaghetti.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughters, Annette (Len) Albrecht, Terri Schumacher; son-in-Law, Scott Ertl; siblings: Henry "Hank" (Mary) Pospeck, Harold (Connie) Pospeck, Charlotte (Al) Wells, Darlene (Robert) Greene, Laura (John) Modjewski; grandchildren: Kara (Alex Lasky) Gilbert, Brent Schumacher, Matthew (Mary) Schumacher, Jacob (Paige) Albrecht, Catherine "Catie" (Gabriel) Gelhaus, Althea Ertl, Maggie (Troy Elliot) Ertl; great-grandchildren: Natalie (Jonah Lipinski) Hanten, Kenyon Gilbert, Jasper Schumacher, Adelaide Berg, Kateri Berg, Lawson Albrecht, Lillian Albrecht, Juliet Schumacher, many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Ertl; sisters, Betty Rigoni and Connie Figuli; and brothers, Donald Pospeck and James Pospeck.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Duluth Heights Lodge, 724 Maple Grove Drive in Duluth.
