Jack LaBarre Obituary
Jack H. "Tuffy" LaBarre, 84, of Gilbert died peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Essentia Health- Virginia with his family by his side.
He was born on December 30, 1940, in Gilbert to Albert and Myrtle (Mott) LaBarre.
Tuffy went to Chicago where he obtained his training as an electrician. He returned to the Range where he held several jobs ultimately working at US Steel MinnTac, until his retirement. Tuffy married Sandy Hamalainen on May 6, 1989, at Sand Lake Chapel in Britt. Tuffy enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, and time spent at the hunting shack in Ray and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Chris (Todd) Gabrielson; step-son, Bob (Ann Marie) Hamalainen, step-daughter, Terryl; grandchildren, Kyle (Rhonda), Dusty, Kevin, Faith (who Jack and Sandy raised as their own) and McKayla; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Sidney, Colton, Makayla and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, John (Gloria), Bill (Mildred), Archie (Patty), Jerry (Lola), Katherine (Kenny), Louise (Andrew), Marlene, LeRoy (Rita), Kenneth (Ruth) and Raymond (Louise).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Peace United Methodist Church in Virginia. Pastor Lisa Vick will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Private family burial will take place in Eveleth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
