James Floyd Saatela
James Floyd Saatela died January 10, 2025, at University Medical Center Mesabi after being under the care of Hospice for cancer.
Jim was born October 19, 1948, in Virginia, Minn., and was raised in Orr, Minn. After graduating from Orr High School in 1966, Jim attended North Dakota State University where he received his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Architectural Design. Career highlights include teaching, engineering, custom auto body work, long and short haul trucking and a place as the third highest ranked Oldsmobile salesman in the Midwest. Many years ago, he heard the message of the glorious gospel: Ephesians 2: 8-9: For by grace you have been saved through faith; and it is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Because of his decision to accept the free gift of eternal life he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior! Acts 4:12 tells us "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."
Jim is survived by two sisters: Kathy Ebel and Patti Corchoran; one brother: Bruce (Rhoda) Saatela; his five children: Dan (Amy Dishneau) Saatela, Angela Mitchell, Nancy (Todd) Fisher, Mike (Renee) Saatela and Sherri (Ben) Johnson; seven grandchildren: Brock and Jackson Mitchell, Gabriel and Jacob Saatela, Lilja and Cormac Johnson, and Bode Fisher as well as his dear nephew, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Norma Saatela.
