Jean M. (Kemp) Moren

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom and grandma, Jean M. (Kemp) Moren, age 94, on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN.

Jean Kemp was born on June 27, 1931 in Virginia, MN to parents Clarence O. and Julia V. (Ahlstrand) Kemp. She attended and graduated from Eveleth High School in Eveleth, MN.

Jean was married to Joseph J. "Jim" Moren after his release from the US Army, and the couple was blessed with seven children. They made their home in Amery and Hartford, Wisconsin, and Duluth, Minnesota, prior to settling in Hibbing, MN. She was a wonderful homemaker, excelling with her cooking and canning skills, which proved invaluable in raising a large family while Jim was a history teacher at HHS. Their marriage ended in divorce when the children were grown, but Jean and Jim remained friends until his passing in 2021.

She enjoyed traveling (having gone to England, taking random bus trips, and finding time for occasional outings to the local casinos), she loved her family, and was undeniably proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Simply put, Jean's family meant the world to her and Jean meant the world to her family. She will be deeply missed.

Jean is survived by her six children: Glen (Kris) Moren, Wayne (Valerie) Moren, Bruce (Patty) Moren, Kenneth Moren, Julie (Scott) Danielson, and Kari (Adam Tronnes) Olson; 14 grandchildren: Daniel, Sam, Lea, Charlie, Derek, Natalie, Mark, Allison, Amy, Megan, Emily, Luke, Jake, and Lexi; and 11 great-grandchildren plus one arriving the end of August. She is also survived by a sister, Susan Kemp; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Julia; the father of her children Joseph J. Moren; an infant daughter Myrna Lee; grandson David Moren; a brother Clarence J. Kemp; and a nephew Christopher Kemp.

The family would like to thank Heritage Manor, the Fairview wound care team, and Fairview Hospice for the love, care, and support they showed to our mom.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Eveleth. Celebrant will be Fr. David Forsman. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Burial will be in Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth. www.cron-sheehy.com
