Jean Reva Edelstein Schore
Jean Reva Edelstein Schore, 86, formerly of Hibbing, Minn., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Eugene, Ore. Jean was known for her vibrant intellect, boundless energy, and steadfast devotion to her family, her friends, and her many communities.
Born in Duluth, Minn., and raised in Hibbing, Minn., Jean treasured her Iron Range heritage throughout her life, including the State Theater, Lybba Theater, and Hibbing Drive-In that were owned and operated by the family. She was a proud graduate of Hibbing High School, class of 1957, and received her Bachelor of Arts from Simmons College in Boston, Mass., in 1961. Driven by a passion for learning and leadership, Jean earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., in 1979.
Jean's career was defined by innovation and an unwavering commitment to helping others. She began as head of public relations at Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis, then held key marketing roles at the LifeMark Group in Texas and other healthcare organizations. Embodying entrepreneurial ambition, Jean moved to San Francisco and founded Schore Marketing Associates. Over the course of four decades, she operated her consultancy with integrity and vision, advising a diverse range of clients until her retirement and move to Eugene.
Community service was a centerpiece of Jean's life. She was a lifelong Rotarian, serving as an elected official in the San Francisco Rotary Club, and was deeply involved in a global initiative teaching specialized ophthalmic surgery in countries including North Macedonia, Lithuania, and Vietnam. Jean's dedication to civic engagement also included active participation in Leadership Minneapolis (1979–80) and membership in Synagogues in all of her communities across the nation.
Jean's personal passions were as rich as her professional and civic accomplishments. She loved to cook, bake, and entertain, opening her home to friends and family with warmth and excellent food and lively conversation. A lifelong walker and runner, she often covered five or more miles a day well into her eighties, and friends joked that "Jean could walk your legs off." Her love of travel found expression in adventures throughout Europe-visiting her son Mark and his family in Germany during his service in the United States Air Force, and exploring Paris in depth after her daughter Lisa settled there. She participated in several book clubs, continually fueling her intellectual curiosity and capacity for connection.
Her favorite annual tradition was spending time each summer at the family cabin that Max and Sara Lee built on Big Sturgeon Lake near Chisholm, Minn., a place that remained central to her life's happiest memories. Long walks, conversations with neighbors, boat rides, and enjoying the beauty of the sunset with family and friends enhanced every visit.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving parents, Max and Sara (Ginsburg) Edelstein, her brother Chuck Edelstein, and her sister Barbara Goldstein.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Lisa Schore and Lisa's husband Thomas Fields; her son Mark Schore, his wife Kaoru, and cherished grandson Matthew; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends across the country, around the world, and by her many, many new friends at Willamette Oaks Independent Living.
Celebrations of Jean's life will take place in San Francisco, at the family cabin in Minnesota, and in Paris, with dates to be announced. Her ashes will be scattered in these three much-loved places. The family invites you to send stories of remembrance to Lisa and Mark to be recounted at the celebrations of life. If you would like to share a thought or a story, please email it to

Jean's warmth, hospitality, and sense of adventure touched every community she joined and every person she befriended. Jean's legacy lives on in the love she shared, the examples she set, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all. The family requests that donations in Jean's honor be made to the Lane County Food Bank (Donate Funds - Food for Lane County) or to your local area food bank.
