Jeffrey VanBaalen Obituary
Jeffrey "Jeff" VanBaalen, age 65, of Hibbing, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Hibbing Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1960, to Julius and Eunice (Laidley) VanBaalen. On August 1, 1981, he was joined in marriage to Bev Kyro in Sebeka, Minn. Jeff worked for Culligan Water on the Iron Range for 37 years,
filling numerous positions throughout his time there. After he retired, he was a caretaker for a private lodge in northern Minnesota, keeping up the yard and doing general maintenance. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved to take the grandkids out on Blue Lake. Snowmobiling and four-wheeling were also a favorite activity. Cutting wood was a favorite pastime along with working on projects, fixing things and staying busy in general.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Bev, father, Julius VanBaalen, children, Jennifer (Greg) Shaw, Aaron (Paula) VanBaalen, siblings, Kathy Marino, Randy VanBaalen, Karen Jacobson, Rodney VanBaalen, grandchildren, Chase Musich, Evan Heise, Max Shaw, and numerous extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice VanBaalen.
Memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
