John (Jack) Dylen Westom Sr., 85, of Mountain Iron, Minn., passed away peacefully on Monday May 23, 2022, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with his family by his side.
Jack was born Feb. 9, 1937, to the late Clarence and Mamie Westom in St. Paul, Minn. He attended school in Mountain Iron, and was active in the National Guard. He was employed by Range Co-op for 40 years and he enjoyed his summers at the family cabin on Lake Vermilion.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Pearl. He is also survived by his children: John (Peg) Westom Jr. of Hibbing, Rebecca (Greg) Berg of Fergus Falls, Rochelle Hill of Lake Wood, Wash., and Colleen (Rich) Alfano of Baxter; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren who would refer to him as "The Great One." He is also survived by his sister, Judy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mamie; and sisters, Donna and Mary Lou.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Mary's/Essentia Hospice in Duluth for their excellent care and compassion.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
