Kathleen Lillquist Obituary

Kathleen Lillquist

Kathleen Lillquist was born on March 28, 1957, in Virginia, Minnesota, arriving two minutes before her twin sister. Like many older siblings, she often reminded Karen that she was the eldest. Sadly, Kathleen passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, after bravely fighting cancer. She earned an associate degree from Eveleth Technical College and pursued a career as a Compositor at the Hibbing Daily Tribune, Carnation Printing, and Everett Herald. Kathleen married Stanley Irving Lillquist 52 years ago on October 6, 1973; together they resided on the Iron Range until 1985 before relocating to the Seattle area and ultimately settling in Duvall, Washington, where they lived for thirty-nine years.

She had a passion for traveling with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, fishing, and gardening. Kathleen also enjoyed visiting casinos, celebrating successful jackpots, and was particularly proud of reviving "dead" house plants. An avid supporter of local sports teams, she regularly cheered for the Seahawks and the Mariners, especially Cal Raleigh her favorite player. Kathleen was known for her baking specialties, especially Molasses and Monster Cookies, which she frequently prepared for her family. Above all, she took great joy in ensuring her children were well cared for or some might say "spoiled".

Kathleen is survived by: Her children: Crista Steepy (Trevin Steepy) and Stacey Hoffman (Mark Hoffman); Grandchildren: Brandon Steepy (Maghan), Katie Arbour (Ethan Arbour), Chloe Hoffman, Blake Hoffman; Great-grandchildren: Sawyer Steepy, Beaux Arbour, Cora Loux Arbour; Siblings: Duane Farden, Karen Grzybowski (David Grzybowski), Susan Kaseman, Craig Farden.

She was preceded in death by her brother Kevin Farden and her parents, Marie and Bernard Farden.

Per Kathy's request there will be only a "Celebration of Life" at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to your favorite cancer foundation.

Kathy my Dear cousin and friend, you will be so missed. I am so grateful for all the wonderful memories I have. All the family visits when we were kids. But my favorite memory is when me and Darla came to WA and visited you and Stan. What an amazing time. And the best part was our morning coffee talks in your comfy chairs. Love you always.

The reflection of your life, accomplishments and loves are beautiful. They are what shaped you into the woman that everyone loves.

You our dear friend are beautiful, inside and out. Your smile would light up a room and the cute Minnesota accent. Your love for Stan and family could be seen by everyone, they were your everything. What a blessing they are.

Thank you for all the amazing things you made over the years, they are forever treasures. Your seamstress talents amazed me! I loved trading delicious dishes. And your monster cookies were unbeatable, Randy would fight me for the last one.

So many Memories, the day we met many years ago, all the fun times, camping, long conversations on your front porch, celebrating life's high points, family and the hard times. Your quiet strength, you never really complained, but we knew and prayed so hard for you.

The impact you and Stan have had on our lives and so many others is wonderful. I know you worry about him and your family. The loss of you is devastating. We will keep him close and help in anyway we can. You both are family until the end of time.

Rest well our dear friend, you will be forever remembered and loved.
