Kenneth 'Kenny' John Liimatta

Kenneth "Kenny" John Liimatta, 44, of Gilbert died Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Duluth.

Kenny was born on April 21, 1981, to David and Rosalyn (Nosen) Liimatta in Virginia. He grew up and attended Eveleth-Gilbert High School, having graduated from the Class of 1999. He then attended Mesabi Range College and later UMD where he earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. Kenny was employed by United Healthcare as an Electronic Eligibility Analyst. Kenny enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in the woods with family and friends. He especially took pleasure in spending time with his nephew, Mikko. Kenny also enjoyed driving his Chevy Camero and spending time with his beloved dog, Zoey. Kenny will be remembered for this kind and loving soul and also for living life on his own time schedule, affectionately known as "Ken Time".

Survivors include his mother, Rosalyn "Roz"; brother, Jon; nephew, Mikko; aunts: Donna (Jerry) Starc, Shelley (Dan) Anttila and Shirley Nosen; as well as many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, David; brother, Jeremy; grandparents: Ludwig and Rose Nosen and Ray and Doris Liimatta; uncle, Frank "Bud" Nosen and aunt, Connie McGrath.

A celebration of life will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Gilbert Cemetery with Deacon Mark Skala officiating followed by a gathering at the Dugout Bar in Gilbert.
