Patricia Stone Obituary

Patricia Ann Stone

Patricia Ann Stone, age 87, of Hibbing, Minn., and formerly of Dewey Lake, Minn., died Sunday, October 26, 2025, in her home.

She was born November 21, 1937, in Hibbing, Minn., the daughter of Ivan and Loretta (McCabe) Haverkamp. She was a graduate of Hibbing High School with the class of 1955, and went on to receive her AA Degree from Hibbing Community College in 1990. Pat was united in marriage to Anders W. Stone on September 26, 1958, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

Pat worked at Erickson Lumber, was a clerk at Spies Grocery, the Range Center, Greenview in Hibbing, and Aspenwood. Pat was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she served as the Financial Secretary, in circles, Bible studies, quilting for World Relief, church council, choir, pasty sales, bazars, helping in the kitchen for funerals, making doughnuts, the White Elephant Sales, the church clothing and food shelves. She was on the North Eastern MN Synod ELCA Board and the Women of the ELCA Laurentian Conference Board. Her support was felt in Mission Action and Global Missions Committees. She was part of the Synod World Hunger Committee, and she went to Honduras on a Missions trip. She had the heart of a servant, and understood that service was a joy. Pat was a 4-H leader, a Boy Scout Leader, and a member of the Hibbing Band Parents. She volunteered her time at Iron World, Guardian Angels, the Hibbing Food Shelf and Habitat for Humanity.

In her free time Pat had yet to find a hobby that she would not try to master – cardmaking, candle making, ceramics cake decorating, quilting, knitting, latch hook upholstery, macramé, embroidery, cross stich, plastic canvas, swing clothes, making wreaths, puzzles of any kind including crossword and sudoku. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and vegetables, activities like baseball, volleyball, waterskiing, swimming, and walking "to the stop sing and back." She read everything from the newspaper to Scripture. Not one to sit still, she even read or worked on crafts while watching Bulldog Hockey or her Kansas City Chiefs. Above all, the love she had for her family and friends, her sense of humor, quick wit and distinctive laugh left a lasting impression.

Pat is survived by her sons: Andy (Lisa) Stone of Cushing, MN, David (Mary) Stone of Apple Valley, MN, Matt Stone of Black Duck, MN, and Chris (Paula) Stone of Sauk Rapids, MN; brother: Bob (Carol) Haverkamp of Side Lake, MN; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law: Francis & Sue Haverkamp; sons: Alex and Mark Stone; and daughter-in-law: Mona Stone.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Kevin Olson will be the officiant. Inurnment will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church Columbarium. Memorials are preferred to your local food shelf.
