Rosemary 'Znameroski' Davern
Rosemary "Znameroski" Davern passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C., following a courageous battle with various health issues. She lived life with unwavering enthusiasm and cherished her roles as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, warmly welcoming everyone with her kind smile, wise words, and affectionate hugs. Her active social calendar included frequent lunch and dinner engagements, as well as theater outings with her numerous friends, to name a few. Additionally, she and Lee enjoyed attending UMD Bulldog hockey games on Friday and/or Saturday nights, traveling together, and participating in various other activities. Being a mother and grandmother was her true calling, and she excelled in both roles.
Rosemary was born on June 15, 1942, in Virginia, Minn., as one of four children. She actively participated in the Girls Club, Tri-Hi, and the Yearbook Committee during her time at Roosevelt High School, from which she graduated in 1960. Rose then went on to graduate from The College of St. Scholastica in 1964 and commenced her teaching career in Iron Mountain, Mich., later retiring from Chester Park Elementary in Duluth, Minn., in 2004, where she spent the majority of her teaching tenure.
On October 18, 1973, Rose married Lee, the love of her life, and they had two children, Jerry and Kim, whom she deeply cherished.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Laskowski) and Joseph Znameroski of Virginia, Minnesota, her stepmother, Elizabeth, her brother and sister-in-law, Thaddeus and Grace Znamerski of Ohio, Stephen Znameroski of Eagan, Minnesota, and brother-in-law, James "Jim" Davern of Alexandria, Minnesota.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Lee J. Davern of Greenville, South Carolina; her children, Jerry (Melissa) of Stillwater, Minnesota and Kim (John) Hutchinson of Greenville, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Abby, Sam, Casey, and Cora; her sister, Sue Ann (Richard) Pinger; and her sisters-in-law, Debbie Znameroski, Michelle (Tom) Ashmore, Sharon Davern, and Stephanie (Don) Stork, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring or summer of 2026 in Duluth, Minn., with details to be announced at a later date.
