Susan Marie Anderson
Susan Marie Anderson, 69, of Kinney, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Duluth, Minn.
Sue (Susie) was born November 18, 1954, to Wallace & Ilene (Bouressa) Anderson in Hibbing, Minn. She lived most of her life in Grand Rapids, Superior, and for a short time recently in Kinney. She is among the graduating class of 1973 of Cherry High School.
She was an excellent mother, a giver, forgiver, supporter, counselor, nurturer, a people reader. She was self motivated, determined, honest, and feisty.
She was present and direct, sharing in the moment with you. She liked to engage in deep conversation. She saw through and into each person. She gathered information on who the person truly was and could be blunt while telling that individual "like it was."
She enjoyed helping people along the way. She aimed to inspire and motivate positive changes. She wanted to ease the internal turmoil and help to find clarity and peace.
She was a nurturer by nature, a communal mom, showing compassion and empathy to others. Treating each one like her offspring. She said, "they are all my children." She made sure guests were fed, had a jacket, hat and gloves. Sending people home with warmth and comfort.
She believed in natural treatments and enjoyed researching cures and remedies.
She was a homemaker, a gardener, farmer, a hard worker. She enjoyed working for First Call for Help, Early Childhood, bidding jobs for Friend Innovations, interacting with students while working at St. Scholastica, and bartending both at the Elbo Room and for events held at Barkers Island in Superior.
Even though she was petite, she had a mighty, bold spirit.
Although she will be missed beyond measure, the memories made with her will remain in our hearts to treasure.
She is survived by her Significant Other, John Florek Jr.; Siblings: Diane & Husband Don Hendrickson, Barb & Husband Roger Nelson, Charlene Elj, Karen Sampson, Monty Anderson, Shane Anderson. Her Children: Nathan Friend & (Stephanie), Elizabeth Friend & (Joseph), also her Grand Daughters: Athena Friend and Serenity Friend, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Grandparents: Elmer & Clara Anderson, and Fred & Margret Bouressa; Parents, Wallace and Ilene Anderson; and Former Husband, Thomas Friend.
