Susan Rantala
Susan Rantala, 70, passed away on November 15, 2024, with her daughter, son-in-law and amazing friends by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sue was born on September 17, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minn., where she spent her formative years with her family and graduated from Brooklyn Center High School. Soon after graduating, she met her husband, Jeff. After spending a few years in the Twin Cities, they moved near Hibbing, Minn., where they started their family. She loved taking care of her family and living at the lake, where she enjoyed sunsets on the boat and listening to Jeff play guitar at bon fires with friends.
But more than anything, for the past 16 years, Sue was a devoted grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren playing games, traveling, going on adventures, and watching them in their various activities.
In her free time, Sue enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, snorkeling on vacations, nature walks, many crafts, playing cards, and reading.
Sue is survived by her children, Daynelle (Luke) Haaven and Kyle Rantala; her grandchildren, Brynn and Blake Haaven; her siblings, Merilee (Steve) Oman and Craig Taylor; as well as nieces, nephews and many special friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Rantala; her parents, Gerald and Virginia Taylor; and her brother, Micheal Taylor.
A private celebration of life will be held to honor Sue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer.
