Cody Vasquez Obituary

Cody Joe Vasquez, 23, passed away August 27, 2007 in Galveston, Texas.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at the Emmett Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett on Friday.
Cody was born to Jose Vasquez and Kathy Paller on March 12, 1984 in Emmett, Idaho. He lived in Emmett as a small child until the age of four when he moved with his parents to Vancouver, Wash. In Vancouver, Cody was active in Little League, soccer and later high school football.
At age 13, Cody was lucky to spend a year and a half living in Thailand with his parents. He attended private school and spent much of his time swimming, fishing and snorkeling in the ocean.
As a young teenager, Cody loved to ride his skateboard. He enjoyed backpacking and camping with his father and his cousins, Phillip and Levi. Cody loved his family.
His Grandma Epi, was a very special part of his life growing up. They spent their time together endlessly teasing one another lovingly. He would sit through all kinds of stories that his grandma would tell him, each one always had a lesson to go with it.
Cody loved the ocean and he loved to fish. As an adult, Cody made his love of both into a career by working on a commercial fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico. Although he missed his family terribly because he was so far away, he was most at peace when he was at sea.
Cody had a personality that you just couldn't help but love. Sometimes he would get homesick for his family and would go through his phone book and call each one of us, all in the same night, mostly in the middle of the night, and his first question was always, "what are you doing?" He would ask about all of the babies and tell fishing tales until morning. He loved us.
Cody was preceded in death by his Grandma Epi Vasquez and his aunts, "Co Co" Maria Teresa Smith and Chris Gunderson.
He is survived by his parents, Kathy and Bob Paller and Jose Vasquez; his step-brother and sister who he loved dearly, Little Cody and Malia; his grandparents, Louis and Ella Mae Johns; and an enormous family of aunts, uncles and cousins who love him very much. His beautiful brown eyes, his witty sense of humor and especially his loving heart will be missed by all of us very much. We are comforted by the knowledge that Cody is at peace with God in Heaven.
