Marion Hendrix Obituary

Uniontown, WA - Marion Ross (Sonny) Hendrix died April 28, 2024, in Lewiston, ID following a brief battle with cancer. He was born April 8, 1946, in Limon, CO to Denver and Eunice Hendrix was the sixth of eight children. He was raised in CO and ID graduating from Emmett High School in 1964.

He joined the Army National Guard and left that service in 1966 when he enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam conflict assigned to USS Kearsarge. After boot camp, and prior to deployment, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Hereth on April 20, 1966, in Winnemucca, NV. Following his discharge from the military they returned to Emmett, ID eventually relocating to Uniontown, WA where they raised their family.

Sonny retired after a 30-year career at Pullman School District in 2005. Following retirement, he continued to busy himself with many hobbies.

Throughout the years he enjoyed woodworking, building the home where they raised their children, a camper, numerous lighthouses and many children's toys for his grandchildren. He also restored older cars and renovated an Econoline van that was restored, and custom fitted to accommodate a family road trip down the Oregon and California coasts. He enjoyed travelling with Carolyn to visit friends and family especially the children and grandchildren, making their way to Arizona and across the country to New York.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, Uniontown, WA; children, De Anna (Scott) Stafford and Darren (Tara) Hendrix; five grandchildren, Dylan (Chaylene) Greer, Conrad and Carolyn (CJ) Stafford and Alex and Chase Hendrix; and one great-grandchild Rowan Greer. Also survived by his mother-in-law Rosina Hereth; brothers, Marvin (Bernice), Terry (Charlie) and Wayne (Sheri) Hendrix; sister-in-law Estel Mustard and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, father-in-law, Charles Hereth, brother-in-law, Marvin Mustard and siblings, Faye, Linda, Kenneth, Glenn and their spouses.

In keeping with his wishes there was no memorial service.
