Patrick L. Sweeney
January 26,1938 - October 29, 2017
Born in Fort Bidwell, Calif. to Paul and Maxine Sweeney, Pat covered a lot of ground in his 79 years. His life included work as a cowboy (his favorite profession) a specialty welder in the shipyards,a long-haul trucker and one hell of a farrier to name just a few. He also built a lot of fence throughout the western states - If youever cursed barbwire he was probably involved. If there was one thing in this world he hated it was rosebushes (yes, there is a story behind that).
An avid outdoorsman, he was rarely happy indoors unless it was pouring rain and he was next to a fire with a hot toddy in his hand.He never had much interest in school or religion, but was a better man than most. He'd feed you if you were hungry,(just don't ask what you were eating or how he got it.) fix your truck if it was broke and hide your beer if you turned your back. He wouldn't turn down his worst enemies if they needed help and wouldn't hold it over their heads afterward (That was something he reserved for friends and family.)
But he never did get to Teena's to do list.
He is survived by his wife Teena; daughter Lynda; sons, Paul and David; foster son John; grandchildren Allen, Patrick, Jessica, John, Jessica, Wendy; great grandchildren Isabella and Claire; brother Lester and sister Genie. He was predeceased by his parents and younger sister Lynn.
In lieu of flowers Pat requested you support a local business by having a beer at at the Triangle Restaurant in Sweet, ID or your local pub if you can't make the drive. Donations to a community food bank are also encouraged.
Per Pat's wishes, his service will be held in the late spring near Ola, ID. Pat's family would like to thank the staffs at Heron Place, Heart 'n Home Hospice, The Mountain States Tumor Institute and Dr. Larry Florentino for their support.
