Meridian - Richard (Dick) E. Dillon
May 04, 1940 - October 29, 2025
Born in Emmett Idaho. His Parents were Elbert Edward Dillon and Alice Crabtree Dillon and had 1 Brother and 4 Sisters and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He lived in Emmett ID and graduated from Emmett high school, class of 1958. He married Janet Blair on Sept 9, 1961.
Richard had 2 sons, Bret and Bryan. 3 daughters Jandi, Alyce and Kareen. He had 12 grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Richard received his Bachelor Degree in Education at Eastern Oregon University. He also received his Master Degree in Education Administration at Easter Oregon University. He also received his Specialist Degree in Education Administration from the University of Idaho. Richard participated in College Football, Track and Boxing at Easter Oregon University.
Richard started his teaching career in Emette Idaho, in 1961. He started teaching at New Plymouth Idaho in 1966. He started teaching at Middletown High School in 1976. In 1978 he moved his family to Payette ID and became a Payette School District Administrator and Varsity Men's Basketball Coach. Richard was the President of the Region III State of Idaho School Superintendents Association from 1993 to 1997. He coached many Idaho State Basketball championship teams as a Head Coach, for twenty years, from approximately 1966 to 1986. He retired in 2002, as the Payette School District Superintendent.
Richard got Divorced in 1993, then married Judy Blackmer in 1994. He gained a stepson, Jeff (Sharon) Blackmer and a stepdaughter, Julie (John) Tensen and 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Was inducted in 2003 into the Idaho Coach's Hall of Fame. Richard was inducted into the Eastern Oregon University Hall of Fame.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, November 06, at 2:00 PM, at the Emmett Cemetery, 1205 N. Washington Avenue. A Reception will be held at the Elements Kitchen and Bar in Emmett ID, 1825 Highway 16, Emmett, ID from 4PM to 6PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.
