Lawanda Eleam Obituary
Lawanda (Childers) Eleam, 88, of Metropolis, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center with her family by her side.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Shedville Cemetery. David Krueger officiated.
Lawanda was retired from the Pope County School District where she worked as a teacher's aide and was of the Baptist faith.
Lawanda was married to Robie Eleam Jr. on Christmas Eve 1958 and was blessed with two wonderful children, Robert Eleam and Reda (Tony) Krueger; two grandchildren, Kristi (Bill) and Jason (Noelle); four great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Abby, Zeb, and Adeline; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lawanda was preceded in death by her parents, Halbert and Ruth (Steinkamp) Childers; husband, Robie Eleam Jr.
Memorials may be made in Lawanda's name to Shedville Cemetery c/o Tammy Millis, 87 Shedville Road, Golconda, Illinois 62938; or Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Lawanda was a sweet lady and i enjoyed takimg care of her when i worked at the njrsing home.
