Robert Lee Anderson, 83, of Metropolis, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Robert graduated from Metropolis High School in 1961 and married the love of his life, Jeanie Beard, on May 29, 1961. He retired as a systems operator after 35 years at EEI. He enjoyed being outdoors, including activities such as gardening, mowing, and walking. Robert attended Anchor of Hope church, loved clocks, and liked watching westerns. He enjoyed sports cars, especially his beloved black BMW convertible. Robert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and provider, and is going to be sorely missed.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanie Anderson; daughters, Debbie Bowling and husband William, Cheryl Leggett and husband Dale, and Angie Anderson; grandchildren, Justin Williams (Cindy), Ashley York (Rusty), Brittany Christ (Nick), Christin Wadley (T.J.), Sarah Bowling, Amber Mullins (Ryan), Jeremy Leggett (Macy), Tyler Parr (Courtney), Katie Parr (Jewel), and Haley Parr; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Carl Wayne Anderson (Mary) and Raymond Anderson Jr. (Barbara); sister, Linda Sue Tucker; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary (Cole) Anderson, and brother, Nathan Dale Anderson.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given in Robert's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
Pallbearers will be William Bowling, Dale Leggett, Jeremy Leggett, Justin Williams, and Tyler Parr.
