Alton Abbott Obituary

NATICK Alton A."Al" Abbott, 82, of Natick, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. He was the husband of Alice J. (Durant) Abbott, who died in May of 2007. Born April 10, 1925 in Wellesley, where he was raised and educated, a son of the late Alton R. and Mildred B. (Gray) Abbott. He was a resident of Natick for over 50 years. Prior to his retirement, Al was a supervisor with Town of Wellesley Water Department for many years. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943, until his honorable discharge in 1946. During his life, Al enjoyed working around his home doing yard work and caring for his horses, but the one thing that gave him the greatest joy was his family, especially the time he spent watching and caring for his grandchildren. He was the beloved father of Ann Marie Bowler and her husband, William, of Natick, Amy Fegan and her husband, Gene, of Sutton; the brother of Frederick Abbott of Colorado, Evelyn Hodgdon of Maynard, Beatrice Nahass of Fitzwilliam N.H. and the proud grandfather of Chuck, Julie, Christine and Ashley Fegan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home (www.everettfuneral.com) 4 Park St., at Natick Common, Saturday at 11a.m. Burial will be private. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and again Saturday at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his name to the Natick Visiting Nurse Association, 209 West Central St., Natick MA. 01760

Mr. Abbott,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
