Beverly C. Upham

Beverly C. Upham, 83, of Westborough, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of the late Arthur E. Upham who died in 2004. Born in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John and Rhoda (Zwicker) Cambridge. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1945 excelling in Figure Skating during those years. Beverly was employed as a secretary for New England Telephone for many years, before and after raising her family, retiring in 1990 with 20 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, was active as a volunteer in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts when her children were young. She worked in the cafeteria at The Hastings School in Westborough for many years while her children attended school. She also was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed traveling, cooking and making ceramics. Beverly devoted her whole life to her family and friends. She is survived by her four children, David A. Upham and his wife, Susan, of Westborough, Dr. Paul Upham and his wife, Dr. Susan Upham, of Kennebunk, ME, Jo-Ann M. Upham and her fianc, Frank D'Antuono, of Grafton and Carol J. Lucke and her husband, Leo, of Millbury; two brothers, Myles Cambridge and Leon Cambridge both of Portland, ME and was a loving Nana to her eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was the sister of the late John Cambridge, Margaret Rosebush, Eleanor Lowell and Katherine Cambridge. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kasturi, Dr. Kadish, Dr. Behmer and the support staff at the Cancer Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center for their extraordinary care for Beverly over the years. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 14, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Graveside committal services will be held on Friday, Oct. 15, at 11:30 a.m., in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, Maine. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 5-8 p.m., at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough.
