Carlo Cutaia Obituary

STOW Carlo Cutaia, 86, of Stow, formerly of Maynard, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the Brigham & Womens Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Anna M. (Kaskiewicz) Cutaia, who died in 1996. Born and raised in Maynard, he was the son of the late Pietro and Dominica (Mistretta) Cutaia. He attended Maynard schools, and was employed for a time at the former American Woolen Company in town. Mr. Cutaia then served as an ensign in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a weaver at Roxbury Carpet in Saxonville, and for many years as a machinist for local manufacturers. A Stow resident for 53 years, Mr. Cutaia enjoyed time spent hunting and fishing, and especially loved skiing. He was a longtime member of the Maynard Lodge of Elks. He is survived by two children, Ann Toomey of Northborough and Clyde McAllister of West Brookfield; five grandchildren, Bill Toomey of Berlin, Patricia Lemieux of Fairhaven, John Toomey of Maynard, Steven Toomey of Westborough, and Lynne Toomey of Northborough; two brothers, Anthony Cutaia of Maynard and Christopher Cutaia of Sudbury, and several great-grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late C. Brett McAllister, and brother of the late Gerlando and Maria Cutaia, Elizabeth Caisey and Josephine Lombardo. All are invited to visiting hours on Friday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass Ave. (Rte. 111), Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 9 a.m., in St. Bridget's Church, corner of Percival and Sudbury streets, Maynard. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Rte. 62, Stow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. Mr. Cutaia,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
