Elsie Travers Obituary

MARLBOROUGH Elsie A. (Allen) Travers, 90, of Marlborough, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Coleman House in Northborough after an illness. She was the wife of Anthony W. Travers who died in 1991. She leaves her sons, Howard W. Whynot and his wife, Bette Ann, of Marlborough, and Stanley W. Whynot and his wife, Mary, of Leicester; three grandchildren, Stephen Whynot of Durham, Maine, Paula Roberts of Salem and Diane Stewart of Randolph; and seven great-grandchildren. She was born in Lynn, daughter of the late Harry and Emma Allen and was a lifelong resident of Marlborough. She was a graduate of Marlborough High School. She was a quality control inspector at Raytheon Co., Waltham division, for over 34 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlborough where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's Guild. She loved to crochet and make table cloths, was an avid crossword puzzler and enjoyed reading. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, in the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Marlborough. A calling hour will be prior to services, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to the services. Memorial donations may be made to the Coleman House Family Support Group, c/o Karen Schultz, 112 West Main St., Northborough, MA 01532.
