Kathleen Arico

Kathleen (OConnor) Arico, 86 of Framingham MA, passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2016 following a hard fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Arico, to whom she was married for 59 years. Born in Spiddal, Ireland, daughter of the late Morgan and Kate O'Connor, she resided in Framingham for 52 years. Kathy was retired, an avid gardener and bird watcher with a yard filled with beautiful flowers. She was an accomplished knitter, dressing her grandchildren in beautiful sweaters. She was so happy to spend time with her family in Brewster, MA and enjoyed walking Nauset beach with Ken at her side. In past years she loved to camp and visited many places around the US and Canada. She was a fabulous Nana to her six grandchildren, a wonderful mother-in-law especially to her favorite fourth daughter Pam, and a great friend. Kathy leaves behind her husband Ken; daughter Christine and her husband Stephen of Framingham; daughter Karen and her husband George of Cumberland, RI; son Kevin and his wife Pamela of Brewster; and daughter Sandra and her husband John of Salt Lake City, UT. She was Nana to Ryan Richards and his fianc Kathy Bringas, Derek Richards, Alison Arico, Kenny Arico, Matthew Gilson, and Ruby Phillips. She will be missed by her brother-in-law Herbert Arico and his wife Lucille, and her sister-in-law Barbara Arico. Both Lu and Barbara were like sisters to her. She loved her many nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her parents and ten siblings, and her second parents, her in-laws Joseph and Ruby Arico, and her brother-in-law Ted Arico. Kathy also leaves behind her many dear friends and neighbors. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Friday, July 15, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. Georges Church, 75 School St., Framingham. Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont. Visiting hours at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Ave.), Framingham will be Thursday from 4 | 7 PM.
