Leon Monroe Humphrey of Holliston, Mass. Born in New Haven, Conn. on April 3, 1919 died peacefully in his sleep on July 6, 2010. Son of the late Leon Monroe Humphrey and Flora Steele Humphrey. He was the beloved father of Kathleen Lee Humphrey Prefontaine and her husband, Dennis, Holliston; Brother of Doris Koepke, North Haven, Conn.; Fianc of Edith Bariou, Greenville, S.C.; Grandfather of Robert T. Hemstock Jr and his wife, Molly; Karen Lee (Hemstock) Kelley and her husband, James, Westborough, Charles Lee Hemstock and his fiance, Whitney Christensen, Wallingford, Conn.; Harry D. Hemstock, and his wife, Angela, West Haven, Conn.; James Shea and his wife, Jody, Prospect, Conn.; Jason A. Ciastko and his girlfriend, Tami Shaw, South Bend, Ind.; Joshua A. Ciastko and his fiance, Ramsey Bernard, Higganum, Conn.; Rebecca A. Ciastko, San Diego, Calif.; Caitlin E. Ciastko and her fianc, Daniel Rasmussen, of Holliston; and Lisa Ciastko, Valparaiso, Ind.. Also survived by nine Great-grandchildren, one Great-Greatgrandson, Adoptive Grandfather of John and Joshua Molloy; many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Predeceased by his former wife, Eleanor Lovelace Hemstock Humphrey and two stepsons, Harry Hemstock and Robert Hemstock. He was a Proud Navy Veteran, having served in World War II; First in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and then aboard the USS Adair in the Pacific Arena. Leon was a Life Member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge, Wallingford, Conn. He worked at National Folding Box in New Haven, Conn.; Botwinik Brothers and Sherman Machine. He was an avid antique collector, specializing in telephones. Leon also loved woodworking, building bird houses, whirly-gigs and his famed Shaker stools.
