Marguerite Burke Obituary

WELLESLEY Marguerite (Callahan) Burke, 95, of Wellesley died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Newton Wellesley Hospital, Newton. She was the beloved wife of John E. Burke, who died in 1979, and the dear mother of John Burke Jr. and his wife, Maryellen, of West Hills, Calif., William Burke of Wellesley, Eileen Starr of Bellingham and Eleanor Burke of Wellesley; the cherished grandmother of Karen Steen of Hudson, Tricia Wood of Arizona and John Herne of Uxbridge; sister of Pauline, Patricia and John Callahan, all of Boston. She also is survived by five great-grandchildren. Born in Milford, Marguerite was a daughter of the late John and Harriet (Sullivan) Callahan and had been a resident of Wellesley for the past 74 years. A graduate of Regis College, class of 1935, she was active in its alumni association and helped organize many of her class reunions. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at St. Pauls Church, 500 Washington St., Wellesley, Monday, Sept. 15, at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home (www.everettfuneral.com), 4 Park St. at Natick Common, are Sunday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 7 p.m.
