Nanette Teresa Higgins

Nanette Teresa OHagan Higgins, 101, of Natick died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. She was the wife of the late William M. Higgins who died in 1985. A long time resident of Natick, Nanette was born in Belfast, Ireland in to the late Michael and Margaret (ORauve) OHagan. Nanette graduated from the St. Elizabeths Hospital of Nursing in 1924 and later became the head nurse at the Leonard Morse Hospital Maternity Ward. In 1931 she met William Higgins while he was recovering from a college football injury. They were married in 1932. Nanette lived for her children, husband and her home. She enjoyed gardening, reading celebrating the holidays and was an avid football fan. She was a strong willed and a hard workingwoman all her life. She is survived by six children, Robert Higgins and his wife Jean of Natick, Elizabeth Wigglesworth and her husband Jack of Natick, Michael Higgins and his wife Sue of Westford, Steven Higgins and his companion Sue of West Newbury, Paul C. Higgins of Framingham, Mary A OLeary and her companion Tim of Natick, 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late William M. Higgins and Christine Higgins. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Friday, Aug. 20, at 9 a.m., from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patricks Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery.
