Raymond Mendes Obituary

Raymond F. Mendes, 81, of Marlborough, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010. He was the husband of Ann C. (Fusaro) Mendes for the last 61 years. Born, raised and educated in Hudson, the son of the late Faustino and Mary (Costa) Mendes, he was a graduate of Hudson High School. He worked most of his life at his fathers store in Hudson, Central Street Market, and also for many years at National Grid. Ray enjoyed boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and spending winters in St. Augustine, Fla., working in the yard, traveling, dancing and sports, especially football. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Joseph Mendes and his wife, Sheri, of Westborough; and a daughter, Deborah Lupacchino and her husband, Frank, of Southborough; a brother, Richard Mendes of Orleans; and a sister, Eleanor Strong, of Huntington Harbor, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Steven Lupacchino of Brookline, Michael R. Lupacchino of Nashua, N.H., and Alissa and Philip Mendes of Westborough. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. A reception will follow after the Mass in the parish hall. Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. All are invited to sign Raymonds online guestbook at www.CollinsFuneral.com.
