Richard DeLage Obituary

Richard Armand DeLage, 89 of John Tucker Road, Aroda, VA, died on Sunday Sept. 4, 2011 at the University of Virginia Trauma Center. He was born in Framingham MA. on January 20, 1922, and was the son of the late Wilfred DeLage and Roxie Woodworth DeLage. He is also predeceased by four brothers; Norman, Bobby, Edward and George DeLage. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Barbara Stiles DeLage of Aroda; two sons Richard D. DeLage and wife Louise of Marshall, VA., and Denis W. DeLage of Candler, NC; two grandchildren Rev. Kenneth P. DeLage and wife Tiffany of Spotsylvania, VA. and Nicole DeLage Marr and husband Patrick of Gainesville, VA; eight great grandchildren; and one sister Dorothy Curtis and husband William of Wiscasset, Maine. He is a former resident of Hopkinton, MA and worked for New England Bell Telephone Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Oak Chapel Baptist Church in Orange, VA. A memorial funeral service, conducted by Pastor Bobby Greene, was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oak Chapel Baptist Church, followed by a luncheon reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Madison County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 868, Madison, VA. 22727. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is in charge of arrangements.
