Robert J. Leger

Robert J. Leger, 89, of Natick, died Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Massachusetts General hospital in Boston surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa M (Papa) Leger who died October 16, 2016 after sharing 67 years of marriage. Born in Waltham he was the son of the late Philias and Leona (Fagan) Leger. Mr. Leger worked as a Machinist at Hodgeman Rubber Company for 40 years retiring as Supervisor in 1990. He enjoyed playing the piano, singing, fishing, and was an accomplished swimmer in his younger years on the Charles River in Waltham. He was lovingly known as "Papa" within his large extended family and for his big heart and kindness when someone was in need. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and supported many Veterans programs. Mr. Leger was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Princeton during World War II. He is survived by six sons; Robert J. Leger Jr. and his wife Catherine of Plymouth, Paul F. Leger and his wife Nancy of Holliston, David S. Leger Jr. and his wife Gail Wellford of Franklin, Michael R. Leger and his wife Donna of Plymouth, Richard T. Leger and his wife Wendy Clougherty of Milford, William R Leger and his wife Elizabeth of Augusta Maine; 16 grandchildren Matt Leger, Kelsey Leger , Dan Leger, Heather Leger, Marissa Leger, David Leger, Kristen Proia, Kelly Leger, Hannah Leger, Rick Leger, Michael Leger , Theresa Boiardi , Derek Clougherty, Erica Clougherty, Zachery Leger, Abby Leger, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edgar, Hank, John, Irene, Doris and Evelyn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday July 27 at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Linus Church at 10:00 A.M.
